Welcome to the Angelfish class.

This page will give you all the information you need about what is happening in our class, such as PE days, homework, trips, events and the areas that we will be learning about during the term.

Dear Angelfish Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful half-term break and are ready for an exciting new term of learning. Our enquiry question this term is: “Farm to Fork – Where Does Our Food Come From?”

PE will take place on Thursdays and Fridays. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. Earrings must be removed or covered with surgical tape or plasters. This term, we will be developing a range of gymnastic skills and working on our athletic abilities.

In English, we will continue practising our 100–200 high-frequency words in both reading and spelling. Our writing this term will cover a range of purposes, including: a recount of our visit to Heckington Windmill on Tuesday 25th February as well as writing instructions linked to The Little Red Hen.

We are very excited about our trip to Heckington Windmill. Please ensure your child arrives at school by 8:15am, ready to leave promptly at 8:30am.

In Maths we will begin the term by revisiting addition and subtraction facts to 20. We will then explore numbers to 50, using manipulatives to build and represent numbers, recognising tens and ones, and sequencing numbers using the language of more and less.

This term in Music, we will be listening to and appraising a range of songs. Children will develop their understanding of pitch and rhythm, use body percussion, and explore both tuned and untuned instruments. They will also have opportunities to perform for each other.

Our Geography learning will explore where our food comes from, with a special focus on Lincolnshire as a key food-producing county in the UK. We will also learn about food miles and why it is important to understand the journey our food takes.

In Science, we will be learning about plants and their basic needs. Children will conduct seed-growing experiments and begin planting vegetables for our new outdoor vegetable plot.

We have lots of exciting events planned for World Book Day:

· Thursday 5th March: Children are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character.

· Friday 6th March: We will walk to the library to choose a book using our World Book Day tokens.

· In the afternoon, we will enjoy a special Pyjama Party, filled with reading and fun World Book Day activities.

Please ensure your child wears comfortable and appropriate pyjamas.

Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to a fantastic term of learning and discovery!
