Enquiry Question: What are castles for?   

I hope that you have all had a lovely half term break. 

I am very excited to be teaching you all this term and we have lots of interesting and fun learning opportunities around our enquiry question about castles. 

In Geography we will be using maps to explore the 4 capital cities of the United Kingdom and their castles.  In DT we will be designing, making and evaluating a fruit kebab fit for a King.  We will categorise, taste and evaluate fruits and vegetables and decide which we will use for our kebab and explore where in the world they come from and how they are grown. 

In maths we will be learning about money, multiplication and division.  We will continue to use TTRS as homework, which will support the learning that we do in mathematics lessons. 

In English we will be exploring a range of fiction and nonfiction books linked to our topic of castles.  We will be exploring the features of a letter, report and explanation text.  Most Year 2 children will continue to take an Accelerated Reading book home, it is really important to make sure that their reading record is signed as this lets us know that they’ve read the book and are ready to take their Accelerated Reader quiz!  This is very exciting! 

Our PE days this term will be Thursday and Friday this term so children will need to come in their PE kits.

Reading books will be changed on a Tuesday and a Thursday, please make sure that you have written in their reading record.
