Welcome to the Penguins class.
Hello and welcome to Penguins class. This page will give you all the information you need about what is happening in our class, such as PE days, homework, trips, events and the areas that we will be learning about during the term. We look forward to welcoming your child into their new year group. We have a very exciting first term ahead!
In history, we will be continuing our learning around the Tudors. This term, we will be focusing on the Lincolnshire Uprising and how Henry V111 became a rule of his own. The children’s learning in Term 2 will focus on gathering evidence across the curriculum subjects in order to answer an enquiry question of- What evidence is there that the Tudors existed in Lincolnshire? Our geography lessons will link to this as we will be carrying out Fieldwork and visiting a small Lincolnshire Tudor village, as well as Tupholme Valley and ST James Church, just the place where it all began! More information about our Fieldwork will be sent out to you during the first week back.
Our English leaning will include a narrative written by Alley Sherrick- The Queen’s Fool. This text also features Henry V111 and his lavish lifestyle as a Monarch. The children will be writing diary entries, describing the event- The cloth of Gold and a non-chronological report. In Art, the children will be observing Tudor portraits and will be further extending their sketching skills by drawing a portrait of Henry V111. Please see our overview document for more details about what we will be learning across our curriculum subjects.
PE for Penguins will take place on a Monday and a Tuesday. On a Monday for Term 2 we will be learning the skills of football and on a Tuesday, we are excited to be continuing our swimming lessons at the new Magna Vieta centre. Please do keep a look out for any updates and photographs of your children’s learning on our Facebook page. Please keep your photo permission slips updated if you wish to have your child photographed during any activities. Please come to school in your PE kit and leave earrings at home on both of those days.
Homework will continue to be set weekly. Please keep reading every day (we have lots of books in the classroom for you to take home!) and earning lots of coins on TT rock stars will continue also! If you need reminders of any of your login details, please speak to Mrs Hastings. We will also be setting weekly spellings again during Term 2, but these will resume after the half term break. These will include synonyms and definitions.
We thank you for all your great support during Term 1 and we are looking forward to another super term in Term 2. Have a lovely break.
