Jellyfish

Class Teacher - Mrs L Horan.

Welcome to the Jellyfish class.
This page will give you all the information you need about what is happening in our class, such as PE days, homework, trips, events and the areas that we will be learning about during the term.
We all hope you have had a fantastic summer. Please find below general information for the weeks ahead, we will keep you updated about specific dates and events throughout the term.
Our learning this term will have links to toys throughout most of the subjects. In history children will learn about changes of toys within living memory. There will be lots of opportunities for you to be involved throughout this learning, including a toy museum join in (dates to be confirmed).
Children will explore the different properties of materials for a variety of toys and consider their suitability and reasons behind the materials used. Children will reflect on the story of Dogger and look at it in detail, reflecting on the history of toys over time. Afterwards, children will have the opportunity to plan and create a variety of different genres of writing related to the text.
In art we will be exploring, sketching and drawing techniques of teddy bears with Jill Murphy as our inspiration. For our finished piece we will create a clay model teddy bear using a range of tools and paint it afterwards to add colour.
RE will look at the world views of Christianity and what Christians believe about God. This will give children the opportunity to understand differences in beliefs and values across the Christian community.
PE will be for two days a week and dates will be confirmed by text. Please ensure that children come into school in the correct kit on PE days, which meets the uniform policy of the school. Expectations for the school uniform can be found on the website.
We will have a welcome meeting on 10th September at 2:30 to share general information about expectations and plans for learning. This will be the ideal time to answer any questions or queries that you may have. We hope to see you there.
We look forward to seeing you all for an exciting first term.
From the Jellyfish team.
