Jellyfish

Class Teacher - Mrs L Staniland.

                             Welcome to the Jellyfish class.

This page will give you all the information you need about what is happening in our class, such as PE days, homework, trips, events and the areas that we will be learning about during the term.

Welcome back Jellyfish,

We hope you all had a lovely half term holiday. This term, our learning will take us on an exciting journey beyond our world as we explore the wonders of space! We will be discovering the history of the Space Race and learn about inspiring figures such as Katherine Johnson, whose mathematical brilliance helped astronauts travel safely to space and back. Through stories, discussions, and creative activities, we will deepen our understanding of perseverance, curiosity, and teamwork.

In Art, we will be inspired by the beauty of the night sky. We will be looking at Van Gogh’s ‘A Starry Night’, we will experiment with colour, texture and printing techniques to create our own version of the artwork, using a range of tools and materials to capture the swirls and lines.

Our science learning allows us to explore materials and the properties. DT lessons continue with Fruit skewers, whilst we will be looking at changing bodies as part of our jigsaw programme.

As we move into the summer term, we will also be preparing for our much-anticipated Sports Day. We will be developing teamwork and confidence as we practise for a range of fun events in PE. Please remember to send your child in their PE kit on PE days. If they need earrings, these need to be covered up or removed prior to lessons. This term our PE days are Wednesdays and Fridays.

Please remember that just 5 minutes of reading a day will help your child make progress in all their areas of learning. To be expected by the end of Year 2, children need to be able to read 90 words a minute, reading fluently without sounding out. The more they practise and re-read the books that are sent home, the easier it is for your child to develop fluent reading.

We look forward to a busy, inspiring and enjoyable final term!

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Staniland, Mrs Askew and Mrs Lamb
